Dorset is FULL of great days out. Featuring TV star monkeys and historic artefacts, there is something for kids of all ages.
Take a day trip or three and let us know how much your kids love them! You can find our Dorset Cottage Holidays here.
1. Kids and animals are always a winning combination.
Farmer Palmers, Monkey World and Putlake Farm are all amazing for animal interaction, with the addition of huge climbing frames! Monkey World is where Monkey Life is filmed, giving you and your kids the opportunity to meet the stars! Monkey World is also offering a free badge to all visitors bringing a melon for the apes. Dorset is unbeatable for wildlife even outside the adventure parks. Why not visit RSPB Arne for an affordable day out? You may catch a glimpse of the white stag that roams there, or wading birds in the bay?
2. Grab your bucket and spade and head to the beach.
Dorset boasts some of the best beaches in the UK . Knoll Beach in Studland in particular features water sports hire, an on-site café and miles of glorious golden sand. What’s more, miles of coastline has just been re-accredited for 2017 with Blue Flag status. As a result, you can have the comfort of knowing the beach and water is sparkling clean. Other famous beaches include Durdle Door, Swanage Beach and Ringstead Bay. We are spoiled for the miles of glorious Jurassic Coast! Try your hand at fossil hunting or surfing at Kimmeridge, or buy a colourful painted pebble from Lulworth Cove. This all sits along the South West Coast Path making for an epic day’s walk between two or more beaches.
3. Step back in time to a ghost village.
Tyneham Village is as it was when it was evacuated before World War 2. Show your kids what it was like to go to school back in the day, consequently you’ll learn something too! This one is a doubly good deal – Warbarrow Bay lays at the end of a gorgeous walk through military land. Spend the whole day in the 1940s!
4. Don’t forget to visit the Dorset chalk giants!
The Cerne Abbas Giant and the Osmington White Horse are both etched into the rolling hills around Weymouth and Dorchester. The drive itself is through lovely windy country lanes… well worth a visit.
5. Let the kids loose and get very wet!.
Dorset Water Park is a new and brilliant attraction in our very own Corfe Castle. Wear out your older kids – enthusiastic mums and dads will love the challenge of this outdoor obstacle course!
After your days out you will return home to your Cottage and start planning next year’s trip! Find more inspiration on your cottages on our website.
