'A rare treasure' nestled in the heart of a conservation area. This substantial semi detached holiday cottage offers ample accommodation for the extended family in a rural location. Located on a B road that leads down to the nature reserve at Arne and the worlds second largest natural harbour at Poole, the RSPB nature reserve which extends over several thousand acres and envelops Bankgate is a birdwatchers paradise. Local wildlife will often be spotted in the woodland and heathland beyond the cottageThe cottage offers country seclusion but is very short drive from all local attractions. Corfe Castle is a short drive away through Hartland Moor. Public houses can be found in Wareham & Corfe Castle with a larger selection of eateries in the seaside town of Swanage which hosts a range of activities for all the family including award winning sandy beach, museum, gardens, sport facilities, sailing, diving, golf and a range of shops. The Saxon walled town of Wareham is a ten minute drive away, relax on the Quay or take a pleasure cruise onto Brownsea Island and Poole Harbour.

Access Statement for Bank Cottage, Arne.

We are located in a quiet road, 2 miles from the beach. The beach cannot easily be accessed by wheelchair because of the approaching uneven terrain. The property is not located on a bus route but taxi services are available locally to the train station just three miles away.

Bankgate does have a ground floor bedroom and bathroom.

Pre-Arrival

• It is possible to park directly outside our front door to unload your luggage and there is plenty of space to disembark.
• The nearest shops are 2 miles away.
• The nearest bus stop is 2 miles away.
• There are several local taxi companies.
• We have no pets and regret we cannot accommodate pets as we have guests who may have allergies to pet fur.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

• To ensure your accommodation is ready we ask that guests do not normally arrive before 3 p.m.
• Parking to unload is at the front of the cottage.
Main Entrance, Reception

• The Main entrance is up two steps. The entrance hallway is quite narrow and we recommend wheelchair users access into the back entrance, a ramp is available to negotiate the step. The door is 100 cm wide and the hallway is 150 cm wide.
• There is a front door bell if the front door is closed.
There is a welcome pack giving details of local points of information as well as hospitals, chemists, doctors and pharmacies.

Hall, Stairs, Landing, Corridors etc

• From the rear entrance the nearest bedroom and bathroom are on the ground floor. The kitchen, dining area and lounge are up one step.
• The stairs are carpeted.
• The stairs up to the triple, double, single bedrooms and bathroom have a banister rail.

Sitting room.
• Guests are welcome to use the lounge at any time. Door width from reception is 72cm.
• The lounge has two sofas and two chairs. The lounge is centrally heated and benefits from an open fire (guard provided) the lounge is carpeted and the sofas are soft.
• A selection of local information, maps magazines and board games is available in the lounge.
• The chairs are easily accessible but to allow wheelchair access to the sofas you may have to move a rug and coffee table.


WCs

• There are two toilets on the ground floor and a further loo on the first floor.

Kitchen

• Door width from kitchen to reception is 72cm. Door width from dining room to kitchen is 72cm. The fridge, freezer, oven, washing machine and tumble drier would be accessible to a wheelchair user. Plates and cups are stored in the upper units, the hob and microwave are worktop height. Units below the sink are fitted with doors.

Outdoor Facilities

• The garden is level and mostly laid to lawn, the rear garden is easily accessible with a paving stone path.



Bedrooms & Sleeping Areas

• Our bedrooms are located on the ground and first floor.

• None of the rooms are en-suite
.
• There is a wardrobe or a chest of drawers in all rooms.

• All pillows and duvets are synthetic.

Door widths for bedrooms on the ground floor are as follows:

Double Ground Floor - 80cm. Wheelchair access to one side of bed.

Twin - 86 cm. Wheelchair access from centre walkway between beds only.


Bathroom, Shower-room & WC [En-suite or Shared]

• A shower room is located on the ground floor. Door width is 72cm. No side access to toilet.

Attractions

• We have leaflets on local attractions and are happy to recommend them based on our and other guests opinions.

Additional Information

• There is a smoke alarm fitted in Bankgate but is only an auditory system.
• There are fire extinguishers in the kitchen.
• Please familiarise your self with the fire assessment in the cottage welcome pack.
