2 bedrooms, 1 double, 1 twin. Gas central heating. Kitchen: Electric oven, gas hob, fridge, washing machine, tumble drier, dishwasher, microwave and dining table and chairs. Lounge: Small TV with DVD player, Open fire. G/Floor WC. F/Floor bathroom with full-size bath and mains shower into bath, WC. Small screened seating area for use within a pretty courtyard garden, garden is not secure with possible access to a small pond. Freezer in outhouse. Parking: 1 allocated space. Bed linen provided.

The cottage is in a terrace of Georgian houses on West St, located in the Saxon walled town of Wareham: from your door walk into the picturesque town, down to the Quayside where you can enjoy a glass of wine overlooking the gently-flowing River Frome. Take a boat trip along the River to Poole Harbour and Brownsea Island, or enjoy a stroll along the river’s edge. The Rex cinema is a delight close by. Farmers’ market on a Thursday, general market on Saturdays.

Georgian Cottage is an excellent base from which to explore the Isle of Purbeck and the beautiful County of Dorset. A short drive will take you to many local attractions including Monkey World (4m), Tank Museum (6m), Lulworth Cove (5m), the imposing ruins of Corfe Castle dominating its village (5m) or Adventure Farm (4m). Sandy beaches at Swanage, Studland and Sandbanks are within easy reach as are the larger towns of Poole and Dorchester. The Jurassic Coast is close by and has both World Heritage and World Destination status: the area is a walker’s paradise.

Access Statement for Georgian Cottage. 43, West Street, Wareham, Dorset BH20 4JT.

Introduction

We renovated the cottage in 2003 –a grade 2 listed building- and lived in it for three years whilst renovating 41 West Street where we now live: 43 is in a terrace of Georgian houses with access to front and rear. If you have any problems or queries we will be pleased to meet you and help in any way we can.

The cottage comprises on the ground floor a lounge, open-plan dining-kitchen area and downstairs toilet and on the first floor a double and a twin bedroom and a bathroom.

Pre-arrival

We are listed on www.dhcottages.co.uk under Wareham and Georgian Cottage.
Bookings/enquiries can be made via email, post or telephone.
The nearest train station is in Wareham (-1/2 mile).
Buses run through the town to Swanage, Poole and Bournemouth: the nearest bus stop is 500M away. There is one bus, which travels along the coast to Exeter.
There are several taxi firms available.
Sainsburys in the town offer a shopping delivery service, as does Tesco

Arrival and car parking facilities.

On arrival it is possible to stop in West Street and unload via the front entrance.
There is a parking space to the rear of the property, about 12M from the back door.

Entrance.

The front entrance door opens adjacent to the pavement and has a small threshold; there is a small step down from this into the sitting room and a step up into the kitchen/diner. A short flight of steps from the parking area at the rear of the property leads through a covered way, illuminated by a PIR-controlled light and with a handrail, into a courtyard garden with a separate patio for your use: there is a small step in the path to the patio. There is a built-up, unprotected pond in the main part of the garden. There is a level entrance through the backdoor of the cottage into a downstairs lobby with a rack for shoe/boot storage and a hanging rail for coats. A door leads to a downstairs toilet with hand-basin on the left and on the right into the kitchen-diner.

Open Plan Dining-Kitchen

There is a circular table seating four with four chairs, all moveable with no arms; the floor is ceramic tile, with good contrast between floor, cupboards and other surfaces; standard work-surface heights; oven door is drop-down; a larder fridge, microwave, small dish washer, washing machine located in the kitchen; there is a freezer and a tumble dryer in the out-house 6M from the back door.

Laundry

There is a standard-sized washing machine with drying option, which is front loading in the kitchen.

Lounge

Furniture is moveable and there are plenty of non-feather cushions provided; there is a three and a two-seater settee and one armchair; a small tele-text TV with DVD is provided with remote control; there is an open fire; the flooring is carpet.

Bedrooms

Non-feather duvets and pillows are provided; sheets, duvet covers and pillow cases are included; access is via a flight of carpeted stairs with handrail and a 90 degree turn at the bottom; the double bedroom has a 5ft bed with space on either side; the twin has two 3ft 6ins single beds; the bedrooms and landing are carpeted.

Bathroom/WC

There is a toilet, wash hand-basin and rectangular bath with a mains shower and screen; step access is required over the bath edge; there are no support handrails; the floor is vinyl, which has a good colour contrast with the walls; access is up three carpeted steps off the landing.

Shops, etc.

Two supermarkets, a Post Office, Fish & Chip shop, period cinema, etc., are all a level walk within 600M.
