The cottage lies a stone’s throw from the church from which the cottage takes its name. St Andrew’s Church dates back to the 14th century, where it has since been a major part of the village. Evidence of this can be seen today in various parts of the church: the pulpit is made from oak dating from 1629, which formerly shaped part of the frame holding the church bells. The panels were carved by a previous vicar, as are the panels behind the altar.
Set just outside of Weymouth in the convenient village of Preston, only ½ a mile from the world famous ‘White Horse’ of Osmington. The area boasts a quieter feel but still has access to local amenities. The local public houses, fish and chips shops and convenience stores won’t leave you wanting, but of course there are several superstores within Weymouth for that first grocery shop. With two local beauty salons within walking distance, why not book mum a special treat to follow the drive to Weymouth or a long day at the beach?
