The Middle and Knoll beaches are accessed via the cliff top path and the National Trust car parks adjacent to them.
Church Cottage is located in the beautiful and historic village of Studland which hosts many interesting events and enjoys perhaps the best sea views to be had. The local area is famous for breath-taking coastal scenery, fabulous countryside walks and interesting and varied attractions. The Isle of Purbeck is predominantly rolling farmland and guests can sample local produce in a generously sized hamper, provided for your arrival, together with a bottle of quality wine from the owners cellar.
Within a 5 minute stroll of the Village shop/PO there is a fully equipped, 1 acre children’s play park to suit all ages. The Village Hall and adjacent social club are open to guests as non members.
This holiday home, steeped in history is believed to be the original parsonage to the 11th century St. Nicholas Church prior to the construction of the Georgian Rectory. George Bernard Shaw is believed to have stayed here. His cigar lighter was found in the cottage during restoration.
Church Cottage standing in nearly an acre of grounds, (when booked with the Garden Cottage) offers two attractive beamed reception rooms with open fireplaces, one being an inglenook with original bread oven. The contemporary fitted kitchen with adjacent utility room offers guests modern conveniences in this traditional ironstone cottage. In addition, on the ground floor there is a bright, large welcoming and comfortable conservatory with 4 armchairs, refectory table & 6 chairs. There is also a cloakroom with beach shower. On the first floor there is a study/library area with T.V, card & games table. (Games included), four bedrooms (one en-suite) and the family bathroom. I counted seven window seats from which to enjoy the fabulous views to the sea and surrounding gardens and countryside.
Guests can on request book the use of a deep water yacht mooring.
NB. If Church Garden Cottage is booked with Church Cottage, the Garden Cottage rental will be reduced by 5%
Acre garden only applies when booking both cottages.
