Welcome to the Purbecks. Marden nestles just outside the Saxon
market town of Wareham known as the gateway to the Purbecks; an area renowned for its dramatic country scenery and Jurassic coastline. The local countryside made famous in Thomas Hardy books changes from open heathland, deciduous
woods to traditional English rolling countryside. Along with miles of breathtaking rocky
coastline you will find long expanses of sandy beach at Swanage, Studland and Weymouth.
Local attractions include horse riding, golf courses, farmer markets, boat rides from Wareham Quay to the
National Trust Brownsea Island and Poole Harbour. Guests can easily reach Monkey World (5
mins) and the Tank Museum at Bovington. For those who enjoy gardens why not visit
Athelhampton House or Kingston Lacey.
