Places to Eat In Dorset
Halfway Inn – Nr Corfe Castle
This dog friendly 16th century thatched pub is a walker’s delight being only opposite Hartland Heath that boasts fantastic walks. With great staff, a colourful history and great food it ticks all the boxes. The Goats Cheese Lasagne is a must, as is the Blanched Whitebait, the staff fuss over dogs with a biscuit jar on the bar.
Scott Arms – Kingston
A pretty pub with probably the best views in the Purbecks, serving fantastic food, local ales and at weekends what really makes this pub unique is its Jerk shack which serves up King Prawns, Chicken and Pork Caribbean style!
The New Inn – Church Knowle
A tradition village pub serving British food with a modern twist. If its seafood you’re after then go no further as this pub has an amazing selection. From Lobster to sardines the whole menu is a culinary delight!
A note for your diary – 25th August till the 11th September the New Inn hosts a summer seafood festival
Seventh Wave – Durlston
Located in the grounds of Durlston Castle and Park, the Seventh Wave restaurant is one of the Purbecks most spectacular view points. Overlooking the sea with Old Harry, The Isle of White on your left and Portland Bill on your right its makes you feel like you’re on top of the world. The outside seating area gives you a perfect place to eat your food and take in the views. Durlston also offers the best place to see dolphins, be sure to get there early in the morning for the best chance of spotting them!
The Kings arms – Portesham
Located on the spectacular coastal road between Weymouth and West Bay the Kings Arms is a great family friendly pub, with its large garden, pretty stream running through its garden, spacious indoor seating area it is a fantastic place to stop and refresh. A real must is the Sunday lunch, a generous plate of food for a brilliant price, I don’t know how or what they do the purple cabbage but it’s amazing!!!
The Manor House – West Bexington
A hidden gem that is a real treat. A beautiful old Manor in a secluded area along the famous Fleet coastline, made famous through programs such as Broadchurch the atmosphere here is lovely, the only sound is seagulls and the chatter of other people. The menu offers a variety of food but at a sensible price. A personal recommendation to try the Crab sandwich!
