A special cott A distinctive period cottage in a unique location. This is one of only three cottages built on top of the old Saxon walls in Wareham. Originally there were six cottages, built between the mid and the late 1800’s which have now been opened up into three. The cottage is the first one along a gravel path (cream painted cottage above) and is fronted by the Saxon ditch. The path only goes to the cottages so it is an oasis of peace and calm, yet within two minutes of Wareham town centre. To the rear of the cottage there is a lovely cottage style garden. Parking is by permit (1) which is 50 yards from the cottage. Internally the cottage has been sympathetically restored to incorporate the old features whilst offering every modern amenity. On the ground floor the custom built kitchen (washer, fridge with freezer compartment, oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher, tumble drier), adjacent dining room with original Purbeck stone floor and with an open fireplace (Hi-Fi). Lounge with ornamental fireplace (TV, DVD & CD). small games/family room with stairs to upper floor. First Floor: Three large bedrooms, one double with ensuite shower room, one twin, one single and main bathroom (bath, shower).
The cottage is a short walk from the River Frome and Wareham's picturesque Quay. The town of Wareham is a market town with street market every Saturday and Farmers market on a Thursday. A short drive will take you to many attractions including the National Trusts Corfe Castle, sandy beaches at Arne, Swanage, Studland or Poole, thousands of acres of nature reserves at Hartland, Arne or Stoborough a delight for birdwatchers and nature lovers. The County town of Dorchester is easily accessible as is the larger town of Bournemouth with seven miles of sandy beaches. Other local attractions include Thomas Hardy’s cottage, Lawrence of Arabia’s cottage, Monkey World, Tank Museum, Blue Pool or Farmer Palmers Adventure Farm. The Isle of Purbeck (Wareham is the gateway) also offers many natural splendours, renowned for its rolling landscape, green fields and quaint villages. A walkers paradise, Swanage being the starting point of the South West Coast Path the longest in England and a network of paths that criss-crosses the countryside.
