Tastefully presented and finished to a high standard, this property will appeal to those of you visiting with extended family and friends. A choice of living areas provides space to entertain and relax in while the 20-foot kitchen-diner has all you need for cooking up and serving a feast.

From the entrance you will find doors leading to the three reception rooms and impressive large kitchen/diner. Off the kitchen, the utility room leads to a self-contained ground floor double bedroom complete with en-suite shower room, perfect for those wishing additional privacy.  From the kitchen/diner, French doors lead to a patio area that captures the late afternoon sun.

From the lounge, French doors will take you to a large garden terrace, where you can enjoy the morning sun with your coffee. The enclosed garden is mainly laid to lawn including a grate-covered pond and is stocked with a range of mature shrubs and trees; perfect for children to explore and build a den!

On the first floor via a split-level staircase, there are a further 4 bedrooms, all of which are well proportioned with high ceilings throughout. To the left you will find the master king with en-suite shower room and a further large king room with views over the garden. To the right - 1 twin bedded room and 1 double with views of the pretty garden. West Lodge has the benefits of being a wonderful rural retreat yet it is within easy reach of local amenities and attractions. It is located just a mile outside Corfe Castle and a short stroll from the village of Church Knowle, with its local pub and fish restaurant. West Lodge is positioned in the centre of the Isle of Purbeck, a peninsular (rather than an island), designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty, with a World Heritage Jurassic coastline. Such a central location means that the famous dinosaur/fossil beach of Kimmeridge to the West, the bustling seaside town of Swanage to the South and the Blue Flag sandy beaches of Studland to the East are all within 15 minutes drive of West Lodge. No navigating narrow country lanes or long journeys to the coast!

Paths and trails lead from the doorstep along the valley floor or up onto the ridge of the Purbeck Way and are popular with walkers and cyclists alike. Maps and books of trails are provided, as too is a comprehensive list of what to do in the area. Just 5 miles from West Lodge is the market town of Wareham, where you will find eateries, pubs and shops. Grab yourself an ice cream or take a boat trip along the River Frome. There are so many different things to do here you will truly be spoilt for choice and after a full day of exploring, what better way to end it than by returning to West Lodge to unwind and relax with your family and friends. Fabulous place in wonderful setting
There were 9 of us over three generations. Home very well equipped and so much space. So much provided for children books, toys and videos. A choice of places to eat outside if you wished. Plenty of parking (we took three cars). Went to middle beach at Studland Bay, parking, cafe and toilets, shallow water for quite a way out . Lots of interesting place within easy reach. We all had a lovely time. Would be very happy to return given the chance.

Great holiday home
Three generations of our family stayed in this lovely house for a week. The house was spacious, light and welcoming and was the best equipped home we have ever stayed in! There was plenty of space for us to all be together but also there was enough rooms to accommodate people wishing for some peace and quiet. The house was in easy reach of most places to visit in Dorset, and there was plenty to do, despite the weather not being too kind at the beginning of the week.

It was warm, comfortable, well appointed and with excellent facilities we were only here for week so local visits were limited to a visit to Swanage via the Steam Train and a wonderful local animal sanctuary at Church Knowle. we would recommend this letting to anyone of a discerning taste Excellent!!

Wonderful holiday home!
Beautiful house. Perfect for our holiday. Well located if you are looking for a rural setting away from it all. Beautiful garden as well and the patio was a sun trap perfect for a cup of tea after a walk. Highly recommended.

Excellent stay
We enjoyed a wonderful family holiday at West Lodge, Church Knoll, despite the weather being unsettled. The house was comfortable and spacious, clean and well equipped and the garden was lovely which all made for a perfect holiday home. It was a great base with lots of places to visit and things to do for both inside and outside entertainment. Highly recommend for a family holiday. The staff at Dorset Cottage Holidays were very efficient and helpful. Thank you all.

Brilliant Family Cottage
This holiday cottage is fabulous. It has everything you want for a relaxing holiday. I went with all my family, young children included and it was a delight to be there. It is spacious and comfortable. The children loved the toys and the garden.

Superb holiday home
The house was extremely well equipped and very spacious. We had 8 adults, 2 toddlers and a baby staying there and did not feel like we were 'on top' of each other at all. Our toddler was so so happy with the toys which we were not expecting to be there. The location of the house was very good with so many things to do within a short driving distance. We would come again!

Thank you for a lovely family gathering at your most comfortable home. Even for the 70 year old, all needs were more than met. The Christmas decor and attention to detail were so appreciated, especially by tired travellers. The children loved the selection of toys, DVDs, and books! Thank you again for making this such an enjoyable stay.

Lovely house and beautiful countryside- the closeness to the coast in contrast was very enjoyable. We could not recommend this beautiful, warm, v. well equipped house enough. Can't wait for return visit. Well done Sarah and Chris perfect in every way.

Excellent!!
This was our 2nd visit and was of the same high standard as our 1st.The property has an excellent layout well equipped and has beautiful well maintained gardens in which to relax.

Beautiful house & garden
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at West Lodge. It is a large house with enough rooms to be able to spread out or be together whichever is preferred. The garden was a particular highlight with many different flowers and shrubs and lovely garden furniture which made eating outside easy if we wished to. Only slight drawback was very slow internet which unfortunately in this modern age is considered “essential” by some people. We look forward to maybe visiting this house and the surrounding area again as there was a lot we didn’t get round to doing!!
Pauline S.
Prime rural quiet location with ample space for the full complement of guests in the hous
We were very pleased with the amount of space at West Lodge. There was plenty of seating inside and outside on the patios. Really appreciated the establishment of flowers in the beds under more mature shrubs. In this hot week we loved getting back to the wooded gardens from the beach to enjoy natural shade. The kitchen was well stocked with equipment though we would have liked a large colander, a large box grater and a bottle brush or two. The children relished the variety of good toys. We all found our beds comfortable. My husband and I were in the downstairs bedroom. The first night or two we were plagued by worrying humming all night and sounds of water filling a tank. Minds were put at rest on the water issue after reading the house manual which described how the water softener recharges between 2 and 5am. Would suggest a sign on the cupboard door about that. However the humming was still an issue as it was a wasps nest forming directly above us in the roof space over our ground floor bedroom. We wondered whether we could stick it out but by Tues it had got worse. Thankyou for sending along the wasp man. We would strongly suggest that you put a metal mesh over the air bricks around the house as this would stop infestation next year. We were happy to do the watering but please note that it took about an hour to do it thoroughly. It would have been helpful to have had a longer hosepipe and/or a decent watering can. We could only find a small indoor plant can. Another worry on our last evening was the sudden activation of an audible warning from the alarm control panel by the front door, apparently caused by a drop in voltage. We used the DCH contact tel number supplied to find out what to do. The sound was quite loud and was repetitive. We were worried it would disturb us at night as it was clearly heard in the bedrooms. The owner eventually called my husband back on his mobile and told us to press a confirm button and explained it was triggered by voltage drops. Although this silenced it then, it returned again later, when we duly pressed same button. It started again next day just as we were leaving. Despite these tiresome complications we did actually very much enjoy our stay! DCH you also were spot on with customer service when we (temporarily) lost a patio door key by coming out with a replacement.

Beautiful, spacious house in a lovely part of Dorset
This is probably the best holiday home we've ever stayed in, and we've stayed in a lot! A beautiful home with lots of space and very tasteful decor. They have thought of everything. There was nothing we needed that they hadn't already thought of.The garden was also large and beautifully kept. We had our breakfast out there every morning. The area was nice and pretty quiet and a really good base for getting out and exploring the many places nearby. Lots to see within 30 mins drive from the house. Our favourites were Studland Bay and Lulworth Cove. The only negative I can think of was the doors were a bit noisy at night when opening and closing. The floorboards also made noise when walking across the rooms upstairs (mainly noticeable at night) but other than that, the house was fabulous and I would highly recommend.

We had only half of the week we booked here because of family problems but we have been blessed with glorious weather to ease the worries. Fabulous house - our second visit. Too big for just two of us!

Lovely large, characterful house with plenty of room and everything we needed. Only had 1 wet day, plenty to see and do in the area, looking forward to returning again. Enjoyed meals at the Halfway Inn and The New Inn. Many thanks

Three generations and we've all had a great time. House and garden was perfect for us all and so many lovely places to visit. Not enough time to do all the things we wanted to do so we hope to return. Thank you for the welcome pack - much appreciated.

Wonderful!
Wonderful time had by all! Beautiful house - catered to all our needs. Garden looked magical in the autumn sunshine. Loved our walks in the surrounding countryside and Corfe village. Greyhound and Bankes Arms were welcoming with a great selection of ales. Highly recommend the Sunday lunch at The New Inn down the road. Can't wait to come back!

Wonderful house, very well equipped. Perfect for making big family feasts . Corfe Castle was great, lovely walk up and great views all around. We had fab weather for a trip on the steam train to Swanage and a walk along the coast. Fantastic fudge from Corfe village too , it didn't last long. House is so homely and comfortable, we didn't want to leave 🙁
