Church Cottage 50.643112, -1.948465 Church CottageStudlandBH10 3AUBH19 3AU (Directions)

Church Cottage is an 18th Century Grade II listed, thatched property with additional, optional detached Garden Cottage ancillary accommodation, set in an unparalleled location with outstanding panoramic sea and country views over Studland Bay, Old Harry Rocks and to the Isle of Wight.  Guests can enjoy a fabulous ocean sunrise from almost every room. A short 50 yard stroll will take you to South Beach where you can relax all day on the sandy beach. The Middle
and Knoll beaches are accessed via the cliff top path and the National Trust car parks adjacent to them.  Both are large sandy, safe beaches. En route you will find "Fort Henry" from where Churchill and General Eisenhower reviewed the invasion fleet prior to the D-Day landings in the 2nd World War.

Church Cottage is located in the beautiful and historic village of Studland which hosts many interesting summer events and enjoys perhaps the best sea views to be had.  The local area is famous for breath-taking coastal scenery, fabulous countryside walks and interesting and varied attractions.  The Isle of Purbeck is predominantly rolling farmland and guests can sample local produce in a generously sized hamper together with a bottle of quality wine from the owner's cellar, provided for your arrival.  Within a 5 minute stroll of the village shop/P.O there is a fully equipped, 1 acre children's play park to suit all ages.  The Village Hall and adjacent Social Club are open to guests (as non-members).

This holiday home, steeped in history is believed to be the original parsonage to the 11th century St. Nicholas Church prior to the construction of the Georgian Rectory.  George Bernard Shaw is believed to have stayed here.  His cigar lighter was found in the cottage during restoration.

Church Cottage standing in nearly an acre of grounds, when booked with the Garden Cottage, offers two attractive beamed reception rooms with open fireplaces, one being an inglenook with original bread oven.  The contemporary fitted kitchen with adjacent utility room offers guests modern conveniences in this traditional ironstone cottage.  In addition, on the ground floor there is a bright, large welcoming and comfortable conservatory with 4 armchairs, refectory table & 6 chairs. There is also a cloakroom with beach shower.  On the first floor there is a study/library area with TV, card & games table (games included) along with four bedrooms (one en-suite) and the family bathroom.  I counted seven window seats from which to enjoy the fabulous views to the sea and surrounding gardens and countryside.

Guests can on request book the use of a deep water yacht mooring.

NB.  If the Garden Cottage is booked with Church Cottage, in this instance the Garden Cottage rental will be reduced by 5%.

Facilities:4 Bedrooms:  F/F king, dbl, 2 x twin, 1 child's Z-bed available on request.   Lounge fully furnished to seat 8 on a comfortable traditional suite: TV & Home Cinema System, DVD, inglenook fireplace with historic bread oven.  Large Kitchen: Elec. oven & ceramic hot plate, microwave, 2 x fridges, freezer, w-machine, t-drier, dishwasher.  Dining Room for formal dining (8 seats).  Bathrooms: G/F Shower Room, F/F family bathroom full suite and shower over bath, en-suite shower room.   Secure Garden: summer house with additional fridge & terrace with Isle of Wight views, lawned areas, patio and furniture, BBQ.  Parking, 2 off road.  Oil fired Central Heating. WiFi available. Travel cot (no linen), 2 high chairs, baby changing facilities & child booster seat.  Baby & toddler equipment box available on request. Linen & towels included in weekly bookings. One well behaved dog (restrictions apply)

There were 7 of us. 6 adults and a 3 year old. We had a lovely time. The cottage was amazing for the 3 year old. Lots of places to play hide and seek and plenty of room to run about both in the house and the garden. As for the adults the place had so much character and was so comfortable that we hardly needed to leave it to find things to do. We have lived in the Purbecks and know the area well so the holiday was more about relaxation than exploring and Church Cottage was ideal for us. We thought parking might be a problem as we were told that there was room for only 2 cars and we had 3. However we found that actually 3 family hatchbacks can fit in easily but probably not 3 larger cars. The National Trust car park next door proved very useful as we are all members.

An amazing location with beautiful sea views! The cottage has four very comfortable bedrooms also with sea views, a cosy lounge with large log fire, two kitchens, a grand dining room and conservatory. There is a raised patio to enjoy an evening drink and take in the view as well as other garden seating areas to chase the sun. There is a neighbouring cottage to book additional accommodation both in stumbling distance of a popular pub for cyclists, hotel restaurant, convenience store and 3 beaches.

Fabulous
We spent a wonderful long weekend at your cottage. It was a special birthday present from my family and was perfect in every way. thank you so much for the beautifully equipped cottage - no more dashing out to buy washing up liquid etc etc, which we have experienced in the past. The hamper was also very much appreciated. We hope to be back soon..

Excellant, spacious house.
We had both the garden cottage and main house - not sure if we would be so keen if the garden cottage was let to another family. However don't think this is likely as the family all want to return next year to both. House well equipped, with lots of space. Very comfortable. Help made it a fantastic holiday.

Fantastic views, homely cottage, very spacious and great location
We had a great stay at this cottage - the views and outdoor space are wonderful and it is a very short stroll to the beach. It is moments away from 2 great pubs that serve good food - The Pig and the Bankes Arms. The cottage was well kitted with out and we received a lovely welcome hamper. We would definitely go back.

Lovely Cottage in excellent position,a very enjoyable and relaxing place to stay
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Cottage and having a large group it worked well with Church Garden Cottage. Our second visit and it was as, or more enjoyable than last year. Views from the Cottage are lovely and the close proximity to the Beach, Village and good walks made it a good choice for all ages. Would thoroughly recommend the Cottage.

Fantastic Location
Fantastic location! Stroll down to the beach - so easy with kids and dogs in tow. A few 100 yards to the Pig for Pizza (pre 6 p.m.) or a more sumptuous lunch/dinner - yum! Loved the little walk past the Church to the very very convenient and friendly village shop too. AND, a top walk from your doorstep to Harry's Rocks. You couldn't want for more! Cottage is lovely. Only issue we had was with one of the kids stomping down the corridor to the loo in the morning - waking the whole house up! Thank you so much - a really special place and wonderful to have our family dog with us to enjoy the wonderful walks.

The most beautiful place we have ever stayed.
I cannot praise Church Cottage enough. Everything was lovely: very thoughtfully equipped throughout; comfy beds, spacious; beautiful dining areas, stunning gardens and views; great welcome packs. Only a short walk to the Village Stores, and to the beach. We had our usual beach hut at Studland, and it was so good to be nearer that beach than usual. Each couple had a 'date night' and we went to The Pig which was great. We peeped through the hedge at Garden Cottage and have booked this as well for next year! The small children loved everything. Please feed back to the owners of the cottage how much we loved it.. We left in a bit of a rush, and there was no time to write much in the visitor's book. Your home is heaven on earth, so thank you. Can't wait for next year; only sorry you are so booked up that we will have to wait until August!PS Minor things like a dripping tap were fed back to the office, but there was nothing serious.

Why go abroad with weather and beaches like this .....
We have just spent the most fantastic week at Church Cottage celebrating my 60th birthday .Apart from the first day when it poured with rain and Harry Rock was lost in the sea mist the weather for the remaining 6 days was positively Caribbean , not bad for the middle of April .The cottage itself was big enough for 8 adults to lose themselves in and despite there being only 1 en suite bedroom there was no morning traffic jam for the remaining facilities .The village shop, 3 day time cafes, a pub and restaurants at the Pig on the Beach are all 5-10 minutes walk away as is the beach so no need to use the cars if you don't want to .We did not find the parking an issue as some visitors seem to have done and with a bit of careful shunting and folding of wing mirrors we managed to park 4 large /medium cars within the allocated space and could probably have fitted in one more had the need arisen. We walked , ate and played board games all week-- the cottage is the perfect setting for one of those murder , mystery games - I could imagine Hercule Poirot exercising his little grey cells and holding forth in the dining room ! Oh and everyone said the beds were the most comfortable they'd ever had in self catering accommodation , all in all a perfect week .
Anne Fox-Smythe
Stunning
The most beautiful cottage, though its more a small manor house. Equipped to a fantastic standard and surely the most beautiful location. It is expensive but worth it, good facilities, a small local shop thats good for basics so be prepared for a trek to swanage or Poole for big shop, but as you have beautiful beaches on your doorstep this more than compensates. I thought Corfe would always be my number one favourite but if i can save up enough, id happily return to Church Cottage.

The perfect seaside cottage for our growing family.
This was our second year renting Church Cottage, and it was all the better for the fact that my husband and I were able to rent Church Garden Cottage as well, leaving extra space for our families. Our daughter really appreciated the en suite double bedroom. Lovely rooms for the children as well, and plenty of space to organisre bath-times and bed-times. The large kitchen with its two fridges was greatly appreciated. Washing machine breaking down was a bit disppointing, but not a big problem as they were able to use ours at Garden Cottage. The linked gardens were great; the children loved being able to run round both. All good!
