Perfect
A beautiful cottage, ideally located

Compact comfort near the seafront
This was our second stay at The Old Bakehouse, and we had a lovely holiday. The cottage is conveniently close to Swanage town centre and the seafront and, while it's quite compact, it's comfortable and provided adequate accommodation for us. The challenge, which we proudly accomplished, was to reverse successfully into the garage fromhe narrow street - the only off-street parking available. There were enough on-street spaces, within a few minutes' walk, for the second car. The Old Bakehouse is a well-executed conversion and modernisation, and is well-equipped. We'd happily stay there again!

Ideal for us
Been visiting Swanage as a family for over 45 years. The Game House is now just right. It is well appointed and a flat walk to the beach , shops and restaurants.
Stuart Harvey - 2019-08-20T11:27:34.0000000Z
Well placed and comfortable cottage
We spent two weeks in The Old Bakehouse and found it to be very clean and comfortable. It's position in the town meant that the supermarkets, beach and shops were all a 5 minute walk away. The garage was a great bonus and we found that it was just the right size for our Yaris with a roof box, albeit still a bit of a squeeze reversing in. The only suggestions we would make would be to descale the kettle, make food recycling available and to supply two sets of door keys. We had a brilliant holiday in Swanage and when we return we will look up the Old Bakehouse again.

Excellent holiday
This was our second visit to the Old Bakehouse. We had a two week stay with 4 adults and one toddler. The accommodation is so spacious and well laid out. Two families can share with plenty of space. Two separate shower rooms affords plenty of privacy. The showers are great and plenty of hot water. Great central location. The small garage is not a problem as we unload then find a free parking space in Swanage and don’t use the cars for two weeks! Bliss! We did experience one of the lounge chairs breaking during our stay which could not be repaired or replaced during our stay. We will be booking again for next year but will have a 9 m th baby with us as well as the toddler and could do with a baby bath to be provided.

Fantastic house in a great location.
Fantastic house with everything you need, very tastefully decorated. House is a great central location in Swanage where everything is within walking distance. Would definitely visit again.

Beautiful accommodation without fitting parking space
We really like Old Bakehouse. Especially the interior design, its fully equipped kitchen and its surrounding in Swanage are really good for having relaxing holidays. We came over by ferry with a large family (6 persons), so we had a large vehicle, but even with a normal car the garage is not suitable. There is also a lack of garden-space.
Julia - 2019-04-24T19:47:51.0000000Z
Very well equipped, clean and attractive cottage.
Good location. However, although we were aware that parking in the garage was tight, it would have been helpful to know how restricted the narrow lane made access to the garage.

Great accommodation
The staff at DH were very helpful in helping me to find a property to meet all my family needs. Lovely comfortable cottage, lovely decor, comfortable furniture. Very clean on arrival. Lovely touches, complimentary washing up stuff, cloths tea towels etc. We stayed for two weeks and DH arranged for housekeeping to change bedding and towels after first week. So helpful s part of our party left after the first week and we slept in their beds the second week. Nice big smart TV which was great as we had a one year old with us so we're in most evenings. Loved the showers! Plenty of hot water. The cottage is situated on a flat walk near to beach, town, which is very convenient for everything. Loved it! We had a great holiday with all the comforts of home.

Beautifully modernised, spacious holiday cottage
Four adults and three children had a really enjoyable week in Swanage's Old Bakehouse, a beautifully modernised cottage in the very narrow and quirky Town Hall Lane, barely five minutes' walk from the beach. That's the charm of Swanage: it's a little quirky . . . and timeless. It doesn't appear to have changed in more than 25 years we've been holidaying there. Yet its progressive town council hasn't let it degenerate: far from it. The town is always smart in a traditional sort of way. But back to The Old Bakehouse, with its three comfortable bedrooms, two ample shower rooms, large kitchen/breakfast room and sizeable living room. Everything about it was warm, friendly and welcoming. And comfortable. As many previous holidaymakers have discovered, parking - for one small car - is the holiday challenge of all holiday challenges! (Except, maybe, getting a hole in one on the putting green). I accepted the challenge to reverse into the 14ft x 10ft garage, with the manually-operated electric door, and succeeded with only two additional forward and reverse movements, and a gentle spot of extra throttle to heave the wheels up the hump at the entrance. Deep satisfaction...! If you've a second car, you can find kerbside parking up the hill about five minutes' walk away. Were it not for the parking situation - understandably unavoidable considering the location - we'd have given The Old Bakehouse five stars.
Richard Wells - 2018-09-14T11:37:29.0000000Z
Good position, comfortable, clean, attractive layout and an all round lovely place to stay.
This was our second visit to The Old Bakehouse, Swanage, and - yet again - it didn't disappoint. We really like the layout of the property and its position within the town. It is such a comfortable place in which to stay, has all the necessary equipment/furnishings and is within easy walking distance to all local amenities. If we have a minor quibble it would be that the chairs in the dining area require rubber feet to prevent screechy scraping! Additionally, the toaster either needs repairing mechanically or replacing with a new one. And, as a matter of purely personal taste, the fish 'sculpture' to the lounge fireplace could possibly do with replacing by a decent picture; but none of these things spoiled our stay. We'd thoroughly recommend The Old Bakehouse!

Excellent!
Comfortable and clean. Super location in the middle of town yet quiet. The garage is a good feature if somewhat tricky to negotiate in and out of. The electric door was not working and this had to be opened and closed by hand. This was not a serious issue but it would have made things easier if it had been operational.

A great place to stay
Excellent holiday cottage for coast path walkers. Beautifully decorated. Had everything we needed. Lovely showers! Well situated in town, easy access to everything. Garage was too small for our car and the slight rise in the floor leads to scraping the bottom of the car, people need to be aware of this, we parked in local car park. No garden so might not be great with young children. Nevertheless, we loved it!
Mr and Mrs Lonie - 2017-10-12T11:35:55.0000000Z
Great property in a perfect location!
It is a great property. We were happy with our stay there. We were initially worried about not having any outside space for the children. But we did not need it - as the beach front was literally 2 minutes walk away! Overall, we would certainly consider coming back to the Old Bakehouse again in our next future visit to Swanage.
Matthew & Alison Smith - 2017-09-01T16:19:37.0000000Z
A very attractive and comfortable cottage with excellent showers but a difficult garage to access.
A very clever conversion of what had been an almost derelict building. The accommodation was excellent as were the internal facilities . The one drawback was accessing the garage despite having a small car ie a Fiesta. Anything longer would require the door to be left open. As we had two cars , the availability of a nearby car space would have been welcome. As we were essentially in three groups additional keys would have been appreciated, although I realise this could compromise the use of the key safe. These last two suggestions are certainly not complaints but would make the cottage more user- friendly.

A clean, comfortable, well laid out holiday home in a good location, close to town and the beach; ideal for a family or a couple!
We really enjoyed Swanage, staying the week at The Old Bakehouse, close to the town centre and beach, a comfortable, clean and quiet holiday home over a well laid-out two floors, with mostly good facilities without being 'cluttered'. If I have a small quibble it's that the website describes there being a radio and a CD player, something of importance to us in our every day lives; unfortunately, we never found them - although a radio could be found on the television, the difficulty with this was that it was a challenge to hear from the kitchen. Nonetheless, we had a lovely holiday and would like to return.
John Alexander - 2017-06-17T15:46:08.0000000Z
very good location
This property is located in the right place, close to the beach, shops and pubs. Nice house, very confortable. And beds are made at your arrival !

Well equipped and tastefully furnished cottage in the heart of Swanage
The building has been tastefully restored and furnished. The kitchen is well equipped and the cottage has a good feel. There is no garden but that was no problem to us in September - and it is very close to the shops and beach. Parking is tight - a Golf fits in the garage with the door left raised. Again not a problem for us. We had a lovely week with wonderful weather in this beautiful area of Dorset. Perfect for bird and wildlife lovers with Arne and Studland nearby and Portland and Radipole/Lodmore easily accessible.
The Attaways - 2016-10-06T12:42:50.0000000Z

If I have a small quibble it's that the website describes there being a radio and a CD player, something of importance to us in our every day lives; unfortunately, we never found them - although a radio could be found on the television, the difficulty with this was that it was a challenge to hear from the kitchen. Nonetheless, we had a lovely holiday and would like to return.
