Exofficio 50.650018, -2.296325 ExofficioChaldon HerringNr Lulworth CoveDT2 8DNDT2 8DN (Directions)

Sleeping up to 6 plus a baby, Ex Officio is one of a pair.  The ground floor has been designed in an open plan style with expansive, Travertine tiled flooring and its two downstairs bedrooms are particularly suited for those who find stairs difficult.  The kitchen, modern bathroom and superb furnishings have resulted in a much deserved four star grade.

This semi-detached cottage is situated in the idyllic village of East Chaldon or Chaldon Herring, as it may otherwise be known.  The village pub, The Sailors Return, offers tasty food whilst overlooking country views. East Chaldon is set deep in the heart of rolling Dorset countryside yet very close to the sea and several coastal gems including Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door and Ringstead.  Many varied walks to the South West Coastal Path, now a World Heritage Site, emanate from the village.

Notwithstanding, the south Dorset market towns of Swanage, Wareham, Weymouth, Dorchester, Bridport and Blandford are within easy driving distance, especially the tourist attractions of Monkey World and The Tank Museum at Bovington.

Facilities:

3 Bedrooms.  G/F Double, G/F Single, (pull out single) F/F Twin.  Open plan Lounge/Diner seating six, Freesat TV, DVD. Kitchen, elec. oven, gas hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, w-machine, dishwasher.   G/F Bathroom with separate shower cubicle, F/F en-suite shower room.  Patio, Garden with furniture.  Parking, 2 off road.  Oil fired central heating.  Travel cot (no linen) and high chair. Linen and towels included in weekly and short break bookings. Two dogs welcome but not permitted in bedrooms or left unattended in house or garden.  WIFI.

Cottage is getting a little tired
Although most of the cottage is in reasonable order a few things need attending to. The main downstairs bathroom needs to be updated, a new shower and redecoration. The garden area needs to be tidied up and the tree's, where you are asked to park need pruning back.
David Penman
lovely hosts superb location
East Chaldon is an idyllic location. This well appointed cottage and it's welcoming hosts are to be highly recommended. The cottage is in a pretty village location -surprisingly well placed for the main routes to Swanage and Dorchester. Good well signposted walking nearby especially for nature lovers and their dogs. We would happily return for another holiday.

Wonderful
A very relaxing long weekend spent in a beautiful village close to all our favourite places. The cottage was perfect and we felt at home with our two dogs, everything we could possibly need was catered for from the large shower cubicle to the comfortable double bed, lovely kitchen and large living room/dining room. Would definitely recommend and we hope to visit again.

Very comfortable, spacious accommodation in a pretty little village (so quiet! not a sound!) with an excellent gastro-pub. Friendly owners nearby to help with our queries. We had a wonderful week there and have fallen in love with Chaldon Herring, the Purbeck peninsular and Dorset in general. Thank you!

Nice relaxing week
The house was comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay. Would use dorset cottage holidays again in the furure.
Debbie Dean
Comfortable accommodation in peaceful location.
Clean and comfortable house. Nice seating area outside. Would be useful to have a bit more equipment in the kitchen, larger glasses and a bit more crockery and cutlery to make the dishwasher worthwhile.
Liz Richardson
Absolutely excellent couldn't of wished for anything better would of given them ten stars if it was an option
Far exceeded our expectations, absolutely beautiful furnished to a very high standard, spotlessly clean, extremely comfortable with all the amenities, just like your own home. The owners even decorated the property and left us a huge hamper so we were all set up for a very enjoyable Christmas. I can't then them enough for all the effort they put in to make our stay the best experience over the Christmas period.. I will certainly stay again and recommend them to all our friends. Thanks again

Set in a beautiful village. A delightful conversion.
We made a very late booking due to other holiday plans failing at the last minute. The staff at Dorset Cottage were most helpful. The cottage, was set in the centre of a delightful village. The owner lived next door and had prepared our cottage at very short notice. She made us feel very welcome. We really enjoyed eating outside in the garden each day with lovely countryside views. The pub, less than 5 minutes walk away, was exceptionally good.
